Moray House Rugby Football Club Ground: Jack Kane Centre, 208 Niddrie Mains Road, Edinburgh. |
Match Reports: Saturday 21/10/06 Moray House 35 Eyemouth 5 We welcomed back the taste of victory as Moray House outclassed and outplayed a young but determined Eyemouth side. For the third time running we started the game well and the constant pressure was rewarded by a try. A quick tap penalty allowed veteran Gary McKinnon to score easily. Malcolm’s conversion attempt was narrowly wide. Without doubt the play of the match was worthy of a Murryfield audience (may be even a Landsdowne one?). Great forward rucking released quick ball to the backs. A centre switch move created room for winger Graham to score. A real crowd pleaser. Although Malcolm was unsuccessful from the kick, he did add a penalty minutes later to leave the half time score as 13 – 0 The second half saw Eyemouth have their share of the possession, but a strong MH defence was only breached once. In reply, Moray house added three more tries and a penalty to leave the final score at 35 – 5. Malcolm scored all the second half points and his three tries and a ridiculous dummy duly earned him man of the match. A good result ahead of the cup tie with Penicuik next week. Great attitude and no back chat to the ref helped focus the team for the full 80 minutes (Note: Banty was on holiday).
